Showpiece- Tribal Lady in black & bronze

I love working with ceramic clay. I am in totally love with this art.
Lately I have been using lot of glue bottles.Instead of throwing the bottle I thought of making something artistic.
I cleaned the bottle thoroughly  and  started making the face with clay.Final features were given touches (I.e. eyes, nose, ears etc). After drying (24 hrs ) I have painted this with  fevicryl acrylic colors bronze and golden & black.
voila!!!! the showpiece is ready : )

Peepal leaf painting

Peepal leaf painting technique is originally from Kerala. It is one of the most beautiful & oldest form of art.Even before the invention of paper this  leaf was used for writing. It is considered sacred by the Hindus and the Buddhists
BEFORE( A simple peepal leaf)
Traditionally this beautiful painting is done on the skeleton of the leaf.I have simply done it on a dry leaf. For the dry leaf one needs to collect the tender leaf and place it in heavy pages book. After  20-25 days the leaf will be green yellowish dull in color.

AFTER (Taj Mahal painting on peepal leaf)

For my work I painted the leaf  with a black acrylic color. With a very thin brush the structure of the Taj has been painted.

Vastu mural

Vastu shastra is an ancient Indian art.It combines the art of science, astronomy and astrology. In today's modern times it plays a significant role in ones life.It also helps in channelizing energy in the house...Here I have made a vastu mural and some significant motifs such as the  Om, swastik, Goddess Laxmiji's feet , Shubh Laabh, toran and kalash(pot) with coconut palced in it.On a square mdf board I firstly worked with Fevicryl shilpkar on designing the motifs and respective borders. For further enhancements I have used Fevicryl hobby ideas acrylic paints (indian red, burnt sienna ,pearl mettalic gold)
Vastu Mural

Importance of motifs :
A-U-M:
Om/ A-U-M signifies the trinity of God.Its a symbol of mainly 3 Gods namely Brahma, Vishnu & Shiva. The 3 letters represent the earth, heaven and the netherworld.
Importanc

SWASTIK:
This symbol is considered to be very holy and good luck in Hindu culture. It points to all 4 directions and hence stands  for stability and groundness.

LAXMIJI'S  FEET:
In India,Goddess Laxmi is regarded as the Goddess of wealth & prosperity.Wherever Goddess resides she brings wealth, good luck and prosperity along with her. This footprints are also known as Sripada. These footprints are drawn pointing inwards symbolizing Lakshmiji entering the home.

MANGO LEAVES TORAN:
Mango tree is one of the sacred tress in India. Apart from placing it on the "kalash" its used as toran (leaves of mango tree woven in a string) and hung on the entrance of homes which is considered auspicious.

KALASH:
The kalash is considered auspicious In a hindu pooja ceremony. As per the Hindu scriptures, the kalash is palced for creating a seat for the diety.Addition to this a coconut and mango leaves are placed at the mouth of kalash
